One is the common pariah kite ( Milvus migrans) and the other is the brahminy kite ( Haliastur indus )-these birds of prey can be commonly seen in villages, towns and cities across India. The Brahminy Kite is related to other birds of prey in the Accipitridae family, including the White-bellied Sea-eagle, the Black Kite, and the Osprey. Two of India's fascinating birds carry caste names.
